Early Voting Dates
To vote in person, Virginians can vote during early voting or on Election Day:
September 18 – October 31, 2026

For the 2026 General Election, early voting (also called “absentee voting in person”) begins Friday, September 18, 2026 and runs through Saturday, October 31, 2026.
You can vote early at your local registrar’s office or designated satellite locations. Availability and hours vary by county/city, so check your local registrar for exact times and locations.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (6 AM – 7 PM). To vote in person on Election Day, you must vote at your assigned polling place.
Vote By Mail
To vote by mail, you must request an absentee ballot from the Virginia Department of Elections or your local registrar.
Key Deadlines:
- Request deadline: Friday, October 23, 2026 by 5:00 PM
- Return by mail: Must be postmarked by Election Day (November 3, 2026) and received by noon on November 6, 2026
- Return in person: By 7:00 PM on Election Day
Ballots can be returned by mail, secure drop box, or delivered in person to your local registrar’s office or polling place.
